Everything You Should Know About F-Type Connectors

F Type connectors, also known as coaxial RF connectors used for cable television, terrestrial television, cable modems, and satellite television, are usually connected to RG-59/U, RG-6/U, and RG-11/U cables. They are designed to work at radio frequencies in VHF, UHF, and L band frequency ranges.

F Connectors are used to make a connection between active or passive devices. Whether you are connecting Antenna to the amplifier, a Satellite receiver to an antenna, or a Receiver to Television, connectors are required. Connectors are of many types Screw type, Crimp type, and Compression type. ASTEL Model RG-6-SRW 390, F screw type connectors come equipped with an O-Ring which gives some weatherproofing. ASTEL Model RG-6-CRM-390 F Crimp type connectors also have a “Silicon O Ring” which provides some weatherproofing. ASTEL Model RG-6-CMP-DY15 is compression type connector for RG-6 cable and is the latest in connector technology. Compression type connectors provide the 360 deg connection with the cable. The cable shield is connected to other body from all sides and thus providing the most reliable connection between cable and connector.

These connectors come with a screw coupling mechanism and can be used easily. Available at an economical price, they deliver stable performance to the user. F type connectors are available in many sizes and suitable for different types of cables with outer diameters of 5mm, 6mm, 7mm, and 10mm which are used in satellite systems and coaxial cables respectively. There are both male and female connectors, which use a threaded outer for providing reliable contacts. What’s more, they give the best 75-ohm match for signals that extend well above 3 GHz.

Also, they are perfect for satellite and terrestrial links between LNBs or down-converters/antennas as well as television itself. Interested in learning more about F connectors?
